School Attendance Solutions & Education Welfare Experts
Attendance Solutions Essex has a proven track record of providing services to schools which were traditionally provided by The Education Welfare Service. Independent of Essex County Council, the company has developed a bespoke model of service delivery capable of rapid and sustainable results.
We work hard to deliver results within about 6 weeks. We work with our schools to develop strategies to turn around attendance and other welfare issues. We're happy to be in-school providing a hands-on service or to act in a more advisory capacity to help you implement changes needed to combat the issues you face.
We're qualified, trained, experienced and authorised by Essex Police to issue Penaly Notices for non school attendance. We offer a full range of services geared not only to improving school attendance at your school, but also to take on the responsibility of dealing with parents and / or other agencies on your behalf.

School Attendance
Our Project Managers work with you in-school or in an advisory capacity, providing real help, support & advice when you need it. We'll discuss the services you need & work in your interests, always aiming to exceed your targets - and our own. We have long-established relationships with our partner schools & a long track record of successes, as evidenced by the testimonials they have provided. We invite and encourage you to contact them for further information and references.
Welfare & Advice
We identify, analyse, plan and review every aspect of your school's attendance. We produce attendance reports, data analysis, action plans and graphical evidence of the progress & improvements made in attendance levels as our strategies are rolled out term by term. We produce tailor-made assessments of persistent pupil absences which culminate in SMART action plans and SAPs (Student Attendance Plans) to encourage ownership of and responsibility for school attendance.
Overview & Ethos
Just one or two unauthorised absences each month, over the full cycle of a pupil's school career, will add up to more than a year's missed education, denying any real chance of reaching full potential and resulting in an inevitable downward spiral of non-achievement. We're wholly committed to creating and implementing strategies to encourage and enforce school attendance in order to ensure that every child has an opportunity to excel, regardless of and despite their circumstances.
Essex Police
Our working relationship with Essex Police is 7 years old. We were the first company authorised by Essex Police to issue Penalty Notices for irregular school attendance and unauthorised leave of absence during term time. Our Project Managers are accredited under Essex Police's Community Safety Accreditation Scheme. Schools can request Penalty Notices from Attendance Solutions Essex Ltd where all previous attempts at intervention and engagement with parents have failed. (Isle of Wight Council v Platt, Supreme Court, 04/17)
What our schools say....
CCHS has employed Attendance Solutions since April 2012 to raise whole school attendance above national average and reduce persistent absence below national average. Both of these objectives were achieved in the first year of partnership with Attendance Solutions. Their desire to work with families quickly and effectively has been key to the progress in attendance at CCHS. By intervening with families early, through various support strategies, many students have seen their attendance improve dramatically. Where families have not responded to the support, Attendance Solutions are able to issue their own Penalty Notices. Although only ever used a last resort, this has proved a highly effective method of addressing attendance issues where the support has been ignored. It is no coincidence that CCHS was the most improved school in Essex for attendance in 2012-13. We would highly recommend Attendance Solutions to other schools.
Chris Taylor, Vice Principal,, Clacton County High School
Attendance Solutions has allowed the school to be more proactive in reducing absence rates. Their timely and expert advice has not only reduced our absence to below 3% but has also led to a considerable reduction in persistent absentees. Our office staff have found the support and guidance invaluable and Attendance Solutions Essex are always on hand to assist with any of the more complex cases. The regular reports and timelines that ASE produce allow me to demonstrate clearly that we know where our attendance issues are and that we have a pro- active approach to reducing absence rates.

The Gilberd School has enjoyed working with Attendance Solutions Essex Ltd for the last 6 years. During this time they have worked collaboratively and extremely effectively with key school staff and students to improve whole school attendance and reduce persistent absenteeism. This partnership has resulted in outstanding attendance for The Gilberd School. We would highly recommend Attendance Solutions. Linda Exley- Headteacher.
Gilberd School, July 2017
Attendance has improved due to rigorous systems, which are always followed through, as well as community engagement to raise awareness of the importance of good attendance. A significant reason for the improvement is that pupils are reluctant to miss school as they enjoy their learning and being at school. As a result, attendance is now in line with national averages and is not significantly low for any groups. Attendance is better than in other similar schools.
Willow Brook Primary School, July 2017
Attendance Solutions provide an excellent wrap around service allowing me concentrate on pupil progress rather than attendance. They are highly professional and always carry out the tasks that they promise. I highly recommend them to any school.
St Johns C of E Primary School, Nick Hutchings, Headteacher
The work of Attendance Solutions Essex has been an integral part of the improvement seen at St Helena, in relation to all aspects of attendance. Over the last five years they have offered advice and helped us to implement systems which have led to an increase in whole school attendance and a significant reduction in under 90% Persistent Absenteeism. .From the Schools point of view there are several key benefits to working with Attendance Solutions: The speed with which cases are actioned, The on the day response offered to students, where there is a welfare concern, is invaluable. The advice and guidance given on changes in legislation and how this impacts on our school. St Helena School would highly recommend the services of Attendance Solutions Essex.
